Campfires explained: what every profession adds to your camp

In Forever, a campfire is a group project. Every profession adds its own object and buff. Here's what each one does, and which class buff it replaces.

Classic had one reason to stop by the road: to drink. Forever gives you a better one. Anyone can place a campfire, and players with professions can add an object to it. Everyone who sits at the camp for a minute gets an hour-long buff that grows with their level.

How it works

Blizzard calls it a campsite you build together. The basic campfire comes from camping itself or from profession trainers. More advanced objects come from Blueprint recipes that drop from specific dungeon bosses. Each object's buff is a variant of an existing buff and doesn't stack with it. So a camp buff is most useful when your group is missing that class.

Profession by profession (as seen in the beta)

  • Alchemy: mana regeneration, like Blessing of Wisdom.
  • Blacksmithing: Strength, like Strength of Earth.
  • Cooking: Stamina, instead of a food buff. Cooking also upgrades the Campfire Kit's slots.
  • Enchanting: armor, stats and resistances, like Mark of the Wild.
  • First Aid: Stamina, like Power Word: Fortitude.
  • Tailoring: Spirit, like Divine Spirit.
  • Mining: melee attack power, like Blessing of Might.
  • Herbalism: Intellect, like Arcane Intellect.
  • Skinning: critical strike, like Moonkin Aura.
  • Fishing: a percentage boost to all stats, like Blessing of Kings.
  • Engineering: reagents and repairs instead of a buff.
  • Leatherworking: extra rested experience.

One detail differs between sources. Blizzard's own deep-dive gave examples like a Blacksmith's Sharpening Wheel for attack power and a Tailor's Faction Banner for Spirit, while beta testers see Blacksmithing give Strength. The beta is still moving, so we'll update this as it settles.

Why it matters

Gathering professions used to be pure money-makers. Here every profession brings something to a group. Along with more than 600 new recipes, crafted food that grants experience, and Blueprints that drop in dungeons, it's the biggest crafting change in Classic's history.
