Every new race and class combination in WoW Forever

The Skyborne, six new pairings for old races, and a round of reworked racials. Here's who can be what in Forever, and which choices changed.

Character creation in WoW Forever has more choice than any Classic version before it. There's one new race, the Skyborne, which splits across both factions, six new pairings for existing races, and racial abilities that have been rebalanced rather than copied over.

The Skyborne

The Skyborne descend from Highborne exiles who bonded with the wind spirits of Skywall. They start on Zephras Isle, a new zone for levels 1 to 12, and you choose a side when you create one. Windshapers join the Horde and can be Shamans. The High Order join the Alliance and follow an arcane path to the Mage class. Both can also be Druids, with druid forms of their own, as well as Hunters, Rogues and Warriors.

They share three racials: Walk on Air, a short glide; Wind Blessed, a small haste bonus; and Elemental Insight, extra damage to elementals. Then each side gets one of its own: Windshapers run faster with Skysight, and the High Order regenerate much faster with Read Ley Line.

Six new pairings

  • Orc Mage. Blood Fury now boosts spell power as well as attack power, so it suits the class.
  • Troll Warlock. Berserking speeds up casting, a strong fit.
  • Undead Paladin. The Horde's first Paladin, and a very different look for the class.
  • Human Hunter.
  • Gnome Priest. Eureka! makes your next few spells cheaper and stronger, which works well for a healer.
  • Dwarf Shaman. This finally puts Shamans on the Alliance side, next to the Horde's Windshapers.

Racials that changed

Blizzard didn't just carry the 2019 racials over. A few highlights:

  • Orcs get Shatter Curse: a short immunity to curses and reduced magic damage.
  • Undead get Touch of the Grave, a small life drain on attacks.
  • Tauren get Cultivation, which lets them grow herbs without Herbalism, and Plainsrunning, speed that builds up while moving. Endurance also adds a little hit.
  • Gnomes get Eureka! and more resource from Expansive Mind, whether that's mana, rage or energy.
  • Night Elves get Elune's Light, a short crit boost.
  • Weapon specializations for Humans, Orcs and Dwarves now give crit with their weapon type.
