Forever's talents name spells Classic never had

Blizzard's BlizzCon list of Forever features included "new abilities" but gave few names. The beta's talent tooltips fill in some of the gap. While comparing every Forever talent with Classic Era for our renamed-talents article, we kept finding spells in the tooltip text that Classic players have never had.

What the tooltips mention

• Arcane Blast (Mage). It shows up in two talents: Improved Channeling protects it from pushback, and Incineration adds crit chance to it.
• Ice Lance (Mage). Incineration also adds crit to Ice Lance. Together with Shatter and the frozen-target sword found by testers, Frost has plenty to work with.
• Lava Burst (Shaman). Elemental Alacrity cuts its cast time and Elemental Reach adds range, both alongside Lightning Bolt and Chain Lightning.
• Lacerate (Druid). Shredding Attacks lowers its rage cost, so bears get a new ability to spend rage on.
• Wrack (Warlock). Soul Siphon boosts it alongside Drain Life and Drain Soul, so it's probably a drain-style Affliction spell. We have no tooltip for Wrack itself yet.
• Bane of Agony (Warlock). The Curse of Agony talent is now Improved Bane of Agony, so at least one curse has become a Bane.

What we don't know yet

A spell named in a tooltip isn't necessarily one you'll have at level 30, or even at launch. Some of these may be trainable, some may come from the new systems. The Mage's Comprehension skill already unlocks things from scrolls, for example. And some may be tied to talents deeper in a tree than the beta allows. Blizzard is also encrypting much of the new content (see our article on hidden loot), so we won't guess at numbers.

What's clear is that Forever's classes aren't the 2019 Classic classes with new races. The talent trees were rewritten around a bigger toolkit, and the spells above are the first hints of it.
