Daevanion, Stigma, item level: how AION 2 progression works, as far as the sources go
AION 2 measures your character three ways at once. A plain-language map of the systems behind the numbers, with a warning about what the global build changes.

AION 2 tracks your character with three different numbers, and understanding which one a piece of content checks saves a lot of confusion. This explainer is assembled from Mein-MMO's endgame and gear guides, the community comparison of the global test client with Korea, NC's Season 2 roadmap and the Korean patch notes. NC has not published an English systems guide, so where we say "appears" we mean it.
Level, item level, Combat Power
Character level is the familiar one. Community sources put the global launch cap at 45; Korea moved to 50 with Chapter 1 in July 2026, and NC has not stated the global cap in writing. Item level is a gear score built from weapon, armour, accessories, their enhancement and socketed stones. Dungeons gate on it: Mein-MMO's beginner guide tells you to reach item level 1,000 before you finish the story so the first endgame dungeons are open when you arrive. Combat Power is the broadest measure, folding in item level plus everything else you have unlocked: talent boards, housing, card collections, skill and Stigma levels, titles and wings. Korea's Spacetime Rift Domination, for example, checks level 50, item level 4,500 and 500,000 Combat Power.
Skills: Stigma, Masteries, specs
Your class gives you a base kit; Stigma skills are the customisable layer, socketed and levelled with shards. In Korea the Stigma cap rose from 20 to 25 with Chapter 1, fed by Advanced Stigma Shards awarded per level from 45 upwards. Masteries are passive skill upgrades that instanced PvP freezes at level 20 so that battlegrounds test play rather than time invested. Individual skills also have numbered specs, alternative behaviours you pick per skill; the Korean notes talk about "Shadowstrike spec #2" or "Deadshot spec #5" in exactly that way.
Daevanion boards
Daevanion is the talent system: boards of nodes that add percentage stats such as Combat Speed or Damage Boost. It is one of the main Combat Power sources Mein-MMO lists, and it is where the global build differs most visibly from Korea. The test-client comparison found Combat Speed nodes at 1.5% (Korea 2.5%), Damage Boost at 2.5% (Korea 5%), and one board, named after the Empyrean Lord Ariel and focused on PvE, missing entirely. NC has not commented, so we do not know whether that is a launch-day tuning choice or content held back for a later season.
Gear: enhancement, soul binding, engraving, Potential
Gear grades follow colours; the community comparison mentions green (rare), blue, unique (gold) and legendary (orange) tiers. Each piece can be enhanced, with the global test capping rare gear at +5 and blue at +10, against +10 and +15 in Korea. Soul binding adds percentage bonuses to a piece and, again, the global ranges were lower. Soul Engraving re-rolls secondary options; Korea added an auto-tune button on September 23 that keeps rolling until a chosen option appears. Potential is a further layer of stats on equipment that the global build applies to all gear. Korea's January patch added an Inheritance system for carrying enhancement, breakthrough and engraving over to a same-grade item, consuming the source and limited to a seasonal number of successes; whether it is in the global launch is unknown.
Mein-MMO's gear guide frames the climb in item-level phases: 1,000 at the level cap, 1,300 after the first endgame dungeons, 1,600 from festivals and dailies, 1,700 from Abyss farming, 1,800 from Transcendence dungeons and Arcana cards, 2,200 from Vakron Sky Island, and beyond that the hardest content. It singles out belts and Revelation amulets as upgrades that persist, and warns that Clash runes break easily.
Collections that add power
Arcana cards add fixed item-level chunks (20 for basic, 40 for green, per Mein-MMO) and gained new slots in Korea's Season 2. Genus Insight is the pet-collection bonus system; the January roadmap made it and pet levels server-wide rather than per character, and the global test caps pets at level 3 instead of 5 with a lower Smite bonus. Odyle Energy is the weekly reward budget for dungeons: you pick reward cubes at the end of Expedition, Transcendence and Sanctuary runs, and membership raises the cap and doubles the picks.
Where it all happens
Solo content covers Ascension Trials, Sealed Dungeons, Strongholds and Nightmare dungeons. Five-player Expeditions are the standard dungeons, Transcendence dungeons are the timed, better-rewarding versions, and ten-player Sanctuaries are the raids. Most of it resets weekly, and Mein-MMO describes the schedule as flexible rather than fixed to a daily grind. PvP progression is separate: Abyss Points and medals buy PvP-specific sets, and the Abyss is the only place where PvP cannot be toggled off.
What we could not pin down
- The official global level cap and Stigma cap at launch.
- Whether Inheritance, the Seal slot, or Abyss set tiers are in the launch build.
- Global daily and weekly reset times; the KR schedules are documented but Global ones were pending at the scale test.
